We didn’t just talk about change—we delivered it.
In my first term, we passed historic, transformative legislation to protect our reproductive rights, champion community safety, and guarantee every Minnesotan paid family medical leave. As your State Senator and Assistant Majority Leader, I am proud to put the fight for racial justice and human dignity at the center of everything we do.
But today, our progress is under threat. While we have delivered real results here in Minnesota, the current Trump administration’s attacks on our values and our fundamental rights make it clear that the fight is far from over. We have seen the consequences of cruel, regressive rollbacks, and we must stand strong to ensure that Minnesota remains a place where every family can thrive. I am not done fighting for a Minnesota that works for everyone.
Join me as we continue this work, and together, we will build a community that is truly safe and successful for all.
About Me
State Senator & Assistant Majority Leader
In my first term, I helped lead the historic DFL trifecta as Assistant Majority Leader and Vice Chair of the Judiciary and Public Safety Committee. I am proud to have ushered in landmark legislation like the PRO Act, which codified reproductive freedom into state law , and the North Star Promise, which created a tuition-free college program for Minnesota families. I passed 69 laws in my first two years alone.
A Career in Public Service and Advocacy
Before you elected me to the Senate, I dedicated my career to public service
As the Equity Manager for the City of Saint Paul, I worked to eliminate racial disparities in local government.
As Chair of the Roseville Area Schools Foundation, I fought to ensure every student had the resources they needed to succeed.
As a Political and Labor Organizer, I helped elect progressive candidates across Minnesota.
Fighter for Justice
As a Black woman, the daughter of a Senegalese immigrant and a retired public school teacher, fighting injustice is not just a policy position for me—it is deeply personal. It informs every priority I champion in the Senate. I am committed to passing policies that ensure every Minnesotan has safe, stable housing, accessible healthcare, and a community where they can truly thrive.
I live in Saint Paul’s Como neighborhood with my husband, Garrison, our son, Leo, and our goldendoodle, Honey.
